Ross Posnock

Ross Posnock is a critic and scholar specializing in literature and history of the 19th and 20th century United States. He is currently Anna Garbedian Professor of the Humanities at Columbia University. His books include Henry James and the Problem of Robert Browning (1985); The Trial of Curiosity: Henry James, William James and the Challenge of Modernity (1991); and Color and Culture: Black Writers and the Making of the Modern Intellectual (1998); The Cambridge Companion to Ralph Ellison (2005); Philip Roth's Rude Truth: The Art of Immaturity (2006). He was the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1994 and was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2009.
