Philip Dray

Philip Dray is the author of The Fair Chase: The Epic Story of Hunting In America, as well as At The Hands of Persons Unknown: The Lynching of Black America which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. He has also written several works of American social and cultural history, covering a range of subjects from civil rights to labor history and the history of science. An instructor of courses in non-fiction writing and journalism at the Eugene Lang College, he is also a recipient of the Robert Kennedy Book Award and the Peter Seaborg Prize for Civil War Scholarship.  The recipient of a 2015-2016 Public Scholar Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Dray is currently at work on a social and cultural history of hunting in America.
