Larissa MacFarquhar

Larissa MacFarquhar has been a staff writer at The New Yorker magazine since 1998. She has written profiles of John Ashbery, Derek Parfit, Barack Obama, and Aaron Swartz, among others. Her book Strangers Drowning, about people with extreme senses of ethical duty and our ambivalence about them, was published by Penguin in September, 2015.
