Anthony Gottlieb

Anthony Gottlieb is a former Executive Editor of The Economist, now working on the history of ideas. He is the author of The Dream of Reason: A History of Philosophy from the Greeks to the Renaissance (2000), The Dream of Enlightenment: The Rise of Modern Philosophy (2016), and of numerous book reviews and essays in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Economist and other publications. In 2018-19 he was a fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. He is a member of the editorial board of Lapham's Quarterly.or of The Dream of Reason: A History of Philosophy from the Greeks to the Renaissance (2000) and of numerous book reviews and essays in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Economist and other publications. In 2012-13 he was a fellow at the New York Public Library's Cullman Center, and in 2013-14 a visiting fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. He is a member of the editorial board of Lapham's Quarterly, and is the series editor of The Routledge Guidebooks to the Great Books.
