Ben Kafka is a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst in private practice in Greenwich Village. He is also an associate professor of clinical psychoanalysis in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and a member of the DeWitt Wallace Institute of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell. Originally trained as an intellectual and cultural historian, his first book was about paperwork, especially at its most maddening. He’s currently working on a book for Random House about how people drive each other crazy. 

Kafka has been a Fellow of the New York Institute for the Humanities since 2007, and a member of its board since 2012. He also serves on the board of the Foundation for Community Psychoanalysis.
