Ta-Nehisi Coates is senior editor of The Atlantic, where writes about culture, politics, and social issues. He has contributed to The New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, The Washington Monthly, and other publications. Coates is the author of the memoir The Beautiful Struggle: A Father, Two Sons, and an Unlikely Road to Manhood. In 2012-2013 he was the Martin Luther King Visiting Scholar in Writing at the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at MIT. He was awarded the 2012 Hillman Prize for Opinion and Analysis Journalism.
