Robert Silvers (1929-2017)

Robert Silvers was the editor and cofounder of The New York Review of Books. He was previously an editor at Harper's and The Paris Review. He attended the University of Chicago and the Ecole des Sciences-Politiques and received honorary degrees from Harvard, Oxford and Columbia. In 2014, he received the National Humanities Medal from President Obama. He served as editor for many books, including The Company They Kept, essays drawn from The New York Review of Books.
